D.M. BURGESS

D.M. Burgess, DSL, is a leadership author, strategist, educator, and U.S. Army senior leader whose work examines decision-making and responsibility inside complex institutions. He holds a Doctor of Strategic Leadership from LU, where his research focused on applied leadership in operational environments.

MISSION & JOURNEY TO WRITE

Over the course of his military career, Burgess has led teams in complex operational environments and continues to work at the intersection of national security, policy, and strategy as a Congressional Fellow. He also leads national security seminars at senior professional military education institutions, where he contributes to discussions on leadership, decision-making, and defense policy.

Across both nonfiction and fiction, Burgess writes about leadership, responsibility, and conflict, whether inside institutions, across investigations, or among mythic forces shaping the fate of creation. His work reflects a consistent interest in how individuals make decisions when stakes are highest and outcomes matter most.

In fiction, Burgess is the creator of two multi-book installments in the Chronicles of the Eternal War and the Raymond Buck series. Upcoming series Detective Buck is an investigative crime saga following a determined investigator navigating complex cases that expand into a broader national narrative. The series is structured for long-form serialized storytelling.
